The article “Moab Man Embraces Simple Life Living in Cave” by Jason Blevins is about how a man is not living a typical life but still is happy each and everyday. Suelo is a 48 year old man who lives in a cave. He lives off of no money and has no desire of it. He states,”It's instinctual to live without money; it's the way we were born, he says. It's political.” He finished college and all that stuff but after he was done and was looking for a job he realized this isn’t really what I want to do with my life. So he dropped everything and ran. He lived a more spiritual life which he found himself to be more happy with. Suelo used all the resources around him to stay alive, and he is still is to this day. It states,”He has stopped worrying about what people think about him.” Suelo was planning to camp and hitchhike around Alaska for a couple of months before hitchhiking back to Moab. A generous man put money on his boat thinking he would use it on his journey and when he was at the airport, but he just left it there and didn’t want anything to do with it. Suelo learned how to live spiritually and care free but still lives life to the fullest and is still alive to this day.
Response:I believe this particular life style is different. It is definitely not for everybody although there are probably a lot of other people who strive for this life. Suelo was very brave to just drop everything and live without money and anyone or anything else. He is like Chris McCandless from “Into the Wild.” I don’t completely understand though why people like Suelo and Chris just don’t want anything to do with the real world. There is so much out there and so many opportunities. I mean I can see where they are coming from, but I guess that stuff is just not my style. For instance, I would rather take a trip to see New York City than go to California and see Yosemite. There are many approaches and ways to look at life and I guess it just depends on what you want to get out of it.
